| Q25 - VCDEasy is not... VCDEasy is not a DVD Ripper, nor a MPEG Video encoder. The videos you provide to VCDEasy must be MPEG (compliant with the VideoCD VCD or SVCD specifications) encoded. TMPGenc and Cinema Craft Encoder ("CCE") are very good MPEG encoder. Btw, you can encode your pictures with VCDEasy (VCDEasy uses some of the MJPEG Tools to do MPEG Stills encoding). [ Back to Top ]

| Q26 - What commercial software is required? No commercial tools is necessary. To encode your videos as MPEG1 for VCD you can use the free version of TMPGenc. If you want to make SVCD (MPEG2), you can try TMPGenc for 30 days. There are other MPEG2 encoders, they all are not free, as far as I know. [ Back to Top ]

| Q35 - Does VCDEasy support dual processors? VCDEasy is (but not only) a frontend to multiple free command line tools. Most of these tools don't support multiple processors. It works, but without taking advantage of the dual processors. [ Back to Top ]

| Q36 - What should I use to watch the VCD/SVCD on my computer? PowerDVD and WinDVD play both fine mpg files (video and pictures) and the burnt VideoCDs on the computer. Many people also mount the bin/cue files off the hard drive with daemon tools and then play the VCD/SVCD in the same Software DVD players. Windows Media Player can play (if you have a correct codecs) the mpg files off the hard drive, but is known to have sync and other issues (it depends on your codecs/filters). It is mostly useful as only a quick checker and not to watch the whole video. [ Back to Top ]
